How to know if someone is talking to someone else on Instagram?

On iOS there really isn’t a “secret tap-in” to read someone’s Instagram DMs – Apple sandboxes each app and all Instagram traffic is end-to-end encrypted. Your best bet is to use Family Sharing + Screen Time:

  1. Set up Family Sharing and add your child’s device.
  2. In Screen Time, enable App Limits (you can cap Instagram daily) and Downtime (blocks the app overnight).
  3. Turn on “Always” for Notification Previews so message snippets pop up on the lock screen—if you have their passcode you’ll see incoming DMs at a glance.

If you need more in-depth logs, most Android monitoring tools (mSpy, eyeZy, etc.) require rooting, compromise device security and often violate Terms of Service. Android’s openness makes it easier to install those apps, but they can be unstable, drain battery fast, and even brick the phone. On iOS you’d have to jailbreak just to sideload anything—and that voids warranties and destroys the security model.

Bottom line: on an iPhone stick with Apple’s built-in controls, open conversation and agreed-upon screen-time rules. That way you keep the device fully supported and protect everyone’s privacy.
