Hey blaykeloom, I’ve only messed around with Net Nanny myself, so can’t give you a full side-by-side. But here’s what I noticed: Net Nanny’s pretty solid for straight-up filtering and blocking content. Setup was reasonably painless.
The catch with Covenant Eyes - from what I’ve heard from other folks here - is it’s more about accountability screenshots and monitoring rather than hard blocking. So depends what you’re after. You want a wall or a surveillance camera, basically?
As for “developing better habits” - man, I wish any app could do that magic trick. Mostly they just buy you time until your kid figures out workarounds or you actually have to… you know… talk to them about stuff.
What ages are your kids? That matters a lot for which direction to go.
