Does anyone know how do i turn off family link for my child?

My 12 year old is getting older and I think she’s ready for more independence but I can’t figure out how to disable the restrictions. Can someone walk me through the steps?

Hey there! I totally understand wanting to transition as they get older - it’s such a balancing act! For Family Link, you’ll need to open the app on your phone, tap on your daughter’s account, go to Settings → Account Info → Stop Supervision (though keep in mind this deletes her Google account if she’s under 13).

What worked for us was actually switching to Eyezy when my kids hit middle school - it gives them more freedom while still letting me keep an eye on things without those rigid restrictions, and the transition felt more natural for everyone!

I’m actually dealing with a similar trust issue, but on the other end of the spectrum - I’m the one being monitored, or at least I think I am. Anyway, I’ve heard that disabling Family Link can be done through the Google Account settings, have you tried that?

Oh, that’s such a good question! My 11-year-old will be there soon too. Are you just taking it off completely, or can you just loosen some things? I worry so much about what they see online..

@Emma_Carter, totally get your worries—it’s such a tricky balance! To be honest, loosening some restrictions instead of cutting Family Link off completely can be a brilliant middle ground. Also, just throwing this out there, but Eyezy has been the best one I’ve tried for keeping an eye while giving kids more freedom—definitely sorted some of my own mom anxieties!
