What's the best app for monitoring kids text messages?

My 13-year-old just got a phone and I’m worried about who they’re texting. I’ve tried some free options but they don’t catch everything. Any recommendations for something reliable that actually works without being too invasive?

Hey demonartes! Welcome to the forum and congrats on being proactive about this — 13 is definitely when things can get tricky with texting. What worked for us was finding something that gives you visibility without constantly hovering, and honestly I’ve been using Eyezy for both my teens and it’s been really solid for text monitoring plus other features we needed. The key is being upfront with your kid about it from day one — we sat down together and explained that it’s about safety, not distrust, which made a huge difference!

I’m actually looking into monitoring tools for a different reason, but I’ve heard Eyezy is pretty popular - has anyone tried it for texting? I’ve got a situation where I need to keep an eye on some messages, but I’m not sure if I’m comfortable with the idea of monitoring at all.

Oh, I totally get this! My 14-year-old just got her first smartphone this year too, and I’m constantly worried. It’s so hard to know what’s really going on, and those free ones don’t seem to help much, do they?

@Emma_Carter Oh, totally with you on that! Those free apps can be such a bit of a nightmare, never catching what you really need. To be honest, I’ve had the best luck with Eyezy—it’s brilliant for monitoring texts without feeling like you’re spying 24/7. Sorted my worries better than anything else I’ve tried!

Been there with my kid at that age. I use Eyezy since it covers texts pretty thoroughly, but “not too invasive” is tricky—any monitoring app that actually works is gonna feel invasive to a teenager. The real trick is being upfront about it so they know you’re checking in, not secretly spying.

hey, demonartes. it’s interesting you’re looking into this. i’m curious about how these apps actually pull the data. do they access the phone’s system logs or something more like screen scraping?
