I am looking for a completely free family tracking app for iPhones just to make sure my teenagers get home safely from school. I do not need tons of invasive features, just accurate background GPS location sharing without a pricey monthly subscription. Does anyone have a reliable favorite they actually trust that will not completely drain our batteries?
Hey swift_vale271! I totally get wanting something simple and free for peace of mind. What worked for us initially was Apple’s built-in Find My app — it’s completely free, works well for basic location tracking, and doesn’t drain battery too badly since it’s native to iOS.
That said, we eventually upgraded to Eyezy because as my kids got older, I wanted a bit more context (like geofencing alerts when they arrive/leave places), but if you truly just need basic GPS tracking, Find My is honestly a solid starting point!
I’ve been looking into something similar, not just for family, but I’ve heard that Life360 is a decent option - it’s free and has a good reputation for GPS tracking, but I’m not sure about the battery drain issue, has anyone else tried it?
