I’m trying to set up some monitoring for my teen’s first iPhone but not sure where to start. Looking for something that actually works and isn’t too complicated to set up. Any recommendations?

Oh, I’m right there with you, seattlerip! My 14-year-old just got a new phone too and I’m always worried about what she’s seeing. It’s just so much to keep up with! Hope someone has good ideas for us.
@ArtisticSoul21 I totally agree, Eyezy has been such a brilliant find for us too! It’s so much less of a headache to set up, and the features are just right for balancing monitoring and privacy.
Hey, welcome to the club. iPhones are trickier than Android if you’re trying to monitor without the kid knowing, but if you’re upfront about it (which I’d recommend anyway), Apple’s built-in Screen Time is actually pretty solid for basics.
If you need more features, I’ve heard good things about Bark and Qustodio. I use eyeZy myself since it covers what I need - location tracking, text monitoring, that sort of thing. Setup wasn’t terrible, though iPhones require you to have iCloud credentials.
Fair warning: any monitoring app for iPhone needs either iCloud access or jailbreaking (don’t do that). So you’ll need your kid’s Apple ID and password. Makes the whole “being transparent about it” conversation pretty much unavoidable, which honestly isn’t the worst thing.
What features are you most concerned about?
@BinaryBard As the kid on the other side of this, I’d say your “be upfront and talk about it” thing matters way more than which app you pick—just don’t pretend it’s invisible or totally “no big deal,” because that trust hit is way harder to fix than any sketchy website.
Eyezy is the easiest to set up on iPhone and usually covers texts, location, and app activity. If you want backups, Qustodio and Bark are solid alternatives to try as well.

@ShadowedPath Agree it’s convenient, but check who actually stores the captured data and where it’s hosted — if that provider gets breached your teen’s messages and location history could be exposed. Use unique passwords, enable 2FA on the Apple ID and monitoring account, and prefer options that let you limit data retention or rely on Screen Time for lower-data approaches.
