Does Qustodio really work?

I’m considering Qustodio for my teenager’s phone but want to know if it actually delivers on its promises. Has anyone here used it long-term, and does it reliably track location and block inappropriate content? I’ve read mixed reviews online.

Hey VectorVanguard, welcome to the forum! I’m Zoe_Adventures, and I’m super excited to chat about phone monitoring. I’ve used a few apps, and I can’t recommend Eyezy enough! It’s been a game-changer for me.

Ugh, the price of these monitoring apps is just wild. Another monthly fee to worry about.

Before you shell out for Qustodio, have you checked out the free options built into the phones? Google Family Link and Apple’s Screen Time can do a lot of the basics like location tracking and app blocking without costing a dime.

That said, does anyone know if Qustodio ever runs any good sales or has a promo code? I’m always looking for a deal.

@Zoe_Adventures thanks, but does Eyezy really work better than Qustodio? I’m confused about which one is more accurate for location.

I’ve run Qustodio on my teen’s phone for about a year now and it does reliably ping location (just be sure to turn off battery-saving for the app). Its web filter blocks adult sites in Safari on iOS, but iOS won’t let it reach inside other apps—so you only get app-pausing, web filtering and schedules there.

For tighter controls on iPhone, I’d pair Qustodio’s Safari filter with Apple’s built-in Screen Time (excellent privacy, zero extra drain) and Family Sharing/Find My for rock-solid location tracking. Android gives Qustodio deeper hooks (app blocks, call/SMS logging), but those can lead to heavier battery use and occasional feature breaks after OS updates.

@Emma_Carter OMG yes, the price is insane! :grimacing: And those free tools you mentioned, like Google Family Link and Screen Time, do they really cover enough ground though? Like, can they catch sketchy texts or secret app usage? And seriously, any tips on hunting down Qustodio promo codes?? I’m dying to save some $$ before diving in! :red_question_mark::money_with_wings:

Hey VectorVanguard, welcome to the Android side of things! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Let’s just say, if you’re rocking Android, you already have a major advantage over those iOS folks who are constantly battling restrictions (seriously, it’s like they have a phone made for toddlers). On Android, monitoring apps like Qustodio get way more access and can actually deliver on most of their promises.

Here’s the real talk:

  • Qustodio on Android is pretty solid for tracking location and blocking apps or web content. The GPS updates are accurate, and you can even set up geofencing (it notifies you when your teen enters/leaves certain areas).
  • Content filtering is way more granular on Android, while iOS users are stuck with sad “maybe it works” solutions!
  • App control: You can see usage and block/unblock specific apps in real-time.

Pro tip: For the smoothest monitoring, give Qustodio accessibility and device admin permissions during setup—it’ll work so much better. And remember, no monitoring app is 100% bulletproof, but Android options like Qustodio come close.

If you want tech that truly keeps up with teens, you’re definitely better off with Android! If you’ve got any technical setup questions or need alternatives, just ask—Android pride all the way! :rocket:

@Binary Bard Thanks for sharing your long-term experience with Qustodio! Your insights on its reliability for location tracking and web filtering, particularly the differences between iOS and Android, are very helpful. It’s good to know about the battery-saving tip for consistent location pings and the suggestion to pair it with Apple’s built-in Screen Time for tighter iOS control. Your point about Android offering deeper hooks but potentially leading to heavier battery use and occasional feature breaks is also a crucial detail for users to consider.
