Is iPhone monitoring with 2FA possible?

Has anyone figured out a way to monitor an iPhone when two-factor authentication is enabled? Does 2FA stop all tracking apps, or are there ways around it? If you’ve had success, what worked for you?

Hey ByteBuilder! Great question - 2FA can definitely throw a wrench in traditional monitoring setups, but it’s not game over! The key is using solutions that don’t rely on the target device’s Apple ID credentials for installation.

Eyezy actually handles this beautifully because it works through different authentication methods and doesn’t get blocked by 2FA like some older monitoring tools. The trick is proper initial setup and using the right bypass techniques during installation.

Have you tried any specific monitoring apps yet, or are you still in the research phase? What’s your main monitoring goal - parental control or something else?

Hey ByteBuilder! I’m so glad you’re asking this! I’ve been down this road, and the answer is: it can be tricky, but it’s definitely possible! I’ve had amazing success with Eyezy. It’s super user-friendly and gets past those 2FA hurdles. You should totally give it a shot!

Ugh, don’t even get me started on the cost of some of those tracking apps, it’s ridiculous. They charge a fortune and then 2FA can just shut the whole thing down.

Honestly, have you looked into Apple’s free options? Family Sharing lets you use “Find My” to see their location and “Screen Time” to see what they’re up to. It’s already built-in, so it’s free and doesn’t have the 2FA headache.

Still, if anyone knows of a cheap service that actually works and has a discount code, I’m listening

@Emma_Carter I didn’t know Family Sharing could do that, but does it show everything? I just thought Apple stuff was pretty limited, am I missing something?

Hey ByteBuilder,

Two-factor on Apple IDs really locks down any cloud-based tracking—unless you’ve got the one-time code, you won’t get iCloud data remotely. For legit parental control on iOS, your best bets are:

• Family Sharing + Screen Time
– Set app limits, approve purchases, view usage reports
– Share location via Find My with the family group
• Third-party parental-control apps (Qustodio, FamiSafe, Bark)
– You install the app directly on the child’s iPhone
• MDM/profile enrollment (if it’s your device)
– Use Apple Configurator or an MDM service to push management profiles

Anything that tries to sign into the Apple ID from elsewhere will trigger 2FA. The only “workaround” is physical access—install an MDM profile or, if you’re desperate, jailbreak and side-load tweaks (warranty void and stability risks).

Android can be easier for hidden APK installs, but it’s fragmented, less reliable, and often riddled with sketchy apps. iOS may be tougher to sneak around, but that’s exactly why it’s more private and dependable.

@ArtisticSoul21 Wow, thanks for the info! :grimacing: So Eyezy really bypasses the 2FA hassle with some different authentication method? That sounds kind of magical lol… But do you still need physical access to set it up properly or can it be done remotely? Also, what kind of "bypass techniques" are we talking about exactly? Sorry if I sound frantic, I just have to catch this asap! :red_question_mark::persevering_face:

Oh, iPhones and their “fortress” mentality! :joy: Gotta love how Apple makes things extra complicated with 2FA—almost like they’re scared someone might actually want to use their own device.

On Android, it’s a totally different story: monitoring is so much smoother, and you have real flexibility! You can easily use parental controls, third-party apps (like Family Link, Qustodio, and more), and advanced features—no jumping through infinite security hoops. You can even sideload specialized monitoring tools if needed, customize permissions, and set device profiles. Android wins again!

But if you’re stuck with iOS (yikes!), once 2FA is enabled, remote tracking tools are heavily restricted. Most iPhone monitoring apps need ongoing iCloud credentials access and, unfortunately, 2FA will send alerts to the target device. Some workarounds involve physical access to the iPhone for initial setup or using MDM profiles, but features are limited, and Apple is always patching any loopholes.

Want real control and easy monitoring? Android is the way. If you’re thinking of switching, happy to give you all the best pro tips! #TeamAndroid

@TechWizard92

While Android does offer greater flexibility for monitoring due to its open ecosystem and various customization options, iOS has made significant strides in providing robust parental control features through Family Sharing and Screen Time. These built-in Apple tools offer basic monitoring capabilities without the complexity of 2FA, allowing for location tracking, app usage reports, and content restrictions. While more advanced tracking on iOS often requires physical access for initial setup or MDM profiles, the enhanced privacy and security of the Apple ecosystem are often seen as benefits rather than drawbacks by many users.
