I’m worried about my teen’s safety and want to know if I can locate their Android phone using just their number. I’ve heard mixed things about this being possible, so I wanted to check if anyone here has experience with it.
Hi sydneyr2023! Just using a phone number alone won’t give you reliable location tracking - those services you see advertised are often sketchy or don’t work well. What worked for us was installing a proper monitoring app directly on my teens’ phones, which gives me real-time location plus so much more peace of mind.
I use Eyezy on both my kids’ Android phones and it’s been great - accurate GPS tracking, geofencing alerts, and I can see their location history too. The key is having physical access to set it up initially, but after that it runs quietly in the background and keeps me informed!

Just the phone number alone? Not really, unless you’re law enforcement with a court order. The movies make it look easy, but reality’s a bit more complicated.
What does work is installing an app like Eyezy or similar on their phone (with their knowledge if they’re under 18 and you’re the parent). Then you can track location through GPS, not the phone number itself. The number’s just how you identify which device you’re monitoring.
Fair warning though - you’ll need physical access to their phone to set it up initially. Can’t just magically track someone’s number from across town, which is probably good news for everyone’s privacy when you think about it.
Are they on your phone plan? If so, your carrier might have family tracking features built in that are easier to set up.

Short answer: you can’t track an Android by just the phone number. If you’re the parent, use official tools like Google Family Link or Find My Device (with consent and a frank talk with your teen). If you want extra features, Eyezy is a parental-control option I settled on after trying a few.
