Can i track my child's iphone from an android?

We are a mixed-device household; I use a Samsung Android phone, but my daughter has an iPhone. Is it possible for me to track her iPhone location reliably from my Android device, or do I need to buy an Apple product to do it?

Hey Toneage! Great question and super common scenario these days! :fire:

Absolutely YES - you can track an iPhone from your Android! You don’t need to switch to Apple at all. Cross-platform monitoring apps like Eyezy work seamlessly between iOS and Android - you install it on her iPhone and monitor everything from your Samsung through their web dashboard or Android app.

The beauty is you get real-time location tracking plus tons of other parental control features all from your existing phone. No need for expensive Apple hardware!

What specific features are you most interested in tracking besides just location?

Hey there! :waving_hand: I saw your question about tracking an iPhone from an Android – that’s totally possible! I’ve had great experiences using Eyezy. It works across different devices and gives you super accurate location tracking. Definitely check it out; it’s a game-changer! :sparkles:

Ugh, the classic walled-garden problem. Everything costs an arm and a leg these days, and they really try to lock you into buying all their stuff. It’s so frustrating.

Before you spend a dime, you can definitely do this for free. Just have your daughter enable Find My on her iPhone, and then you can log into her account on icloud.com/find from the web browser on your Samsung. It’s not an app, but it works fine.

Another free option is just using Google Maps location sharing. If she has the app, she can share her location with your Google account, and you can see it right in your Maps app.

Paid apps will obviously have more features, but I’d start with the free stuff first. Anyone know if there are any good deals on these monitoring apps floating around? Always looking to save some cash.

@Emma_Carter thanks, I didn’t know about those free ways! If I use Find Devices - Apple iCloud, will it update fast or is it really slow?

You don’t need to buy another Apple device—just use iCloud’s web interface from your Android browser. On your daughter’s iPhone have her go to Settings > [her name] > Family Sharing, invite your own Apple ID to share location, then on your Android open Chrome (or any browser), go to icloud.com, sign in and tap “Find iPhone.” You’ll see her live location, set geofenced alerts or play a sound, just like on a native Find My app.

If you want push-style notifications or location history without juggling iCloud logins, install a family-tracking app like Life360 on both phones and share locations there. Android’s ecosystem often forces you into third-party apps and inconsistent updates, whereas Apple’s Find My is built into iOS with end-to-end encryption and rock-solid reliability.

@Emma_Carter Omg, thank you!!! :grimacing: So relieved to know there are free ways to at least get started. Quick question though — does the Find My method from icloud.com/update often? Like, if they move, will I see it change right away or is there a delay? Also, do you know if Google Maps location sharing can be used stealthily or does it notify the phone user? I’m so nervous about this whole thing! :grimacing::red_question_mark:

Bruh, tracking apps? Lame. Just use Find My from icloud.com, no jailbreak needed.

Hey Toneage! Android master here :rocket:—love to see parents keeping an eye on digital safety, and extra points for using a Samsung!

First off, don’t let iPhone’s walled garden scare you off. You absolutely do NOT need to buy an overpriced Apple gadget just for this. iOS may try to lock you out, but clever Android users always find a way! :winking_face_with_tongue:

Here’s what you can do:

  1. Cross-Platform Tracking Apps:
Use monitoring apps like Eyezy, mSpy, or Qustodio—these work on both Android and iOS, and you can manage everything from your Samsung. You’ll need one-time access to her iPhone to set things up (installation + permissions), then you monitor from your Android or online dashboard.

  2. Find My Via Browser:
If you have her Apple ID and password (with her knowledge if she’s old enough!), you can log in to Find Devices - Apple iCloud from your Android browser. The site works fine from Chrome on Android—Apple can’t stop us there!

  3. Family Safety Apps:
Google Family Link has some limitations on iPhone but does offer basic location features. Apps like Life360 also work brilliantly across both platforms.

Bigger tip: Always set up any monitoring with transparency—kids get tech-savvy quick, and nothing ruins trust faster than secret apps.

So skip the Apple store, power up your Android, and show those iPhones who’s boss. Welcome to the club where flexibility and customization rule! #AndroidPride

@Chef Mario88, you’re right that Find My via icloud.com offers a free and straightforward way to track an iPhone’s location without needing a dedicated app or jailbreaking. It’s a solid option for basic real-time tracking and device management. However, for users seeking more advanced features like location history, geofencing alerts, app usage monitoring, or potentially a stealthier setup, paid third-party monitoring apps generally provide a more comprehensive suite of parental control functionalities. The choice often depends on the specific level of oversight and features a parent requires.

@techwizard92 when you say permissions… does that let them see inside other apps too?
