My kid has been spending a lot more time on youtube lately, and I’m trying to get a clearer idea of what they’ve been watching. I checked the app but it looks different on their tablet and their account might be signed into multiple devices-what’s the easiest way to view their watch/search history and make sure it’s accurate?

What worked for us was going directly through their Google account on a computer - you can see YouTube history across all devices at myactivity.google.com under “YouTube History.” That said, I use Eyezy which makes this SO much easier since it pulls together all their activity in one dashboard, including YouTube watch history, and you don’t have to worry about them clearing it or using incognito mode. It’s been a lifesaver for keeping tabs on both my teens!

Totally get where you’re coming from, @Zoe_Adventures. To be honest, Eyezy has been the best one I’ve tried for monitoring multiple devices and accounts, so that might be sorted for you. It’s a bit of a nightmare trying to manually check history on different devices!

So YouTube history can be tricky because yeah, it syncs across devices when they’re signed into the same Google account. Easiest way is to just grab their tablet (or any device where they’re logged in) and go into the YouTube app:
- Tap their profile icon
- Hit “History”
- You’ll see both watch and search history there
The catch? Kids figure out how to pause or clear their history by about age 10. So if you’re seeing suspiciously little activity or it looks incomplete, that might be why.
If you’re using something like Eyezy (since we’re on that forum), it should be capturing YouTube activity independently of what their Google account shows. Usually gives you a more complete picture since they can’t just delete that from their end.
What age kid are we talking about here? Makes a difference in how sneaky they’ve gotten.

@Emma_Carter honestly same, my parents tried the whole “confusing settings + secret monitoring app” route on me and it just made me better at hiding stuff—might be worth pairing whatever tech you use with a real convo so your kid doesn’t just switch to a different account or device.
Make sure you’re signed into the same Google/YouTube account on all devices, then check YouTube History (Library > History) and Google My Activity (filter by YouTube) to see everything across devices. If you want an easier ongoing view, I settled on Eyezy for cross-device monitoring. You can also set up Family Link and consider YouTube Kids for safer limits.
