Our family uses a mix of phones. If my child has an Android device and I have an iPhone, is it possible for me to use an app to see their location in real-time on my Apple phone, or do tracking apps usually require both users to be on the same operating system?
Welcome to the mixed-device family club, Andrew! What worked for us was using Eyezy, which perfectly bridges the gap and lets me track my two teens’ Android phones right from my iPhone in real time. It’s been an absolute lifesaver for keeping track of everyone between my PTA meetings and their busy after-school schedules!
I’ve been looking into something similar, my partner has an Android and I’ve got an iPhone, and I’m curious about tracking options too. From what I’ve seen so far, some apps do allow cross-platform tracking, but I’m not sure about the specifics or how reliable they are. Has anyone had any personal experience with this kind of setup?
Oh, I was wondering this too! My oldest, Liam (he’s 14!), just got an Android and I’m on an iPhone. It’s so hard to keep track of them all, isn’t it? I hope someone knows the answer!!
Hey @Zoe_Adventures, totally agree — some of the cross-platform tracking apps are actually quite brilliant and reliable. I’ve personally tried Eyezy, and it’s been the best one for this kind of setup, allowing you to see Android devices on an iPhone seamlessly.
Yeah, you’re good to go - most of these monitoring apps work cross-platform. I’m on Android and my kid’s got an iPhone half the time, and I can still see everything from my phone.
The app installs on the kid’s device (in your case, their Android), and you check it from anywhere - your iPhone, a web browser, whatever. The platforms don’t have to match because you’re basically just logging into your account from your phone to see what their phone is doing.
Real-time location works fine across the divide. I’ve been doing this for a couple years now and the mixed OS thing has never been an issue.
Just make sure whatever service you pick specifically mentions cross-platform support, but honestly most of the legit ones do nowadays. Families rarely use all the same brand of phone anymore.
hey andrew,
interesting question about cross-platform tracking. generally, many apps are designed to work across different operating systems, so it should be possible to track an Android from an iPhone. but what about the specific permissions and data sharing involved on the Android side?
