Does anyone know how to block specific shows on Amazon Prime?

My kid keeps finding a couple shows I don’t want them watching, even with the usual profile limits turned on. Is there a way to hide or block specific titles on Amazon Prime (not just by rating), or do I need a different workaround?

Hi griffink! Amazon Prime’s parental controls are pretty limited when it comes to blocking specific titles - they mainly focus on ratings and creating kids profiles. What worked for us was using Eyezy to monitor what they’re actually watching across all their apps, so I could have conversations about content choices rather than playing whack-a-mole with individual shows. You could also try setting up a PIN for mature content in Prime’s settings, though that’s still rating-based rather than title-specific.

I’m dealing with something similar, but with a partner, not a kid. I’ve heard of using third-party monitoring tools, but I’m not sure if they can block specific shows on Amazon Prime, has anyone tried that?

Oh, yes! I totally get this worry. My oldest, Liam, is always finding things on Prime that I really don’t want him watching, even with the ratings on. It’s so frustrating! I hope someone knows how.

Hey @Emma_Carter, totally hear you! To be honest, Eyezy has been a brilliant bit of a nightmare for monitoring and controlling content across all devices, so you’re not just relying on Prime’s limited options. It’s sorted a lot of my worries!

Amazon Prime’s parental controls are pretty limited compared to Netflix - I ran into the same thing. Your best bet is setting up a Kids profile if you haven’t already, but even that doesn’t let you block specific titles. Some folks use router-level blocking or Screen Time features to restrict the Prime app during certain hours, but it’s a workaround more than a solution.

hey griffink, that’s a common issue. amazon prime’s parental controls are pretty basic, mostly relying on rating systems.

but what about using a content filtering app on the device itself?

@ArtisticSoul21 Yeah, having been on the monitored side, I’d honestly say mixing Prime’s rating/PIN stuff with a convo works better than going full spy app—less sneaky drama, more “here’s why this show’s off-limits” and they’re way more likely to respect it.

There’s no built-in per-title block in Prime Video for a regular profile. Set up an Amazon Kids profile with age-based restrictions and a PIN to prevent switching to an unfiltered view. If you want stricter, per-title control, you may need device-level parental controls or a monitoring app like Eyezy to help keep tabs on what they’re watching.
