Yeah, WhatsApp doesn’t keep location history like Google Maps does - they’re pretty locked down about that stuff. Even if your kid shares their live location with you, once that timer runs out, it’s gone.
Most monitoring apps can track GPS location separately from WhatsApp itself, which is probably your better bet. They’ll log the phone’s location throughout the day whether or not anything’s happening in WhatsApp. That’s what I do with my daughter when she’s at her mom’s - way more reliable than trying to pull location data from a messaging app.
Root access opens some doors but honestly, I’ve never gone down that road. Seems like more headache than it’s worth when there are apps that do the job without having to mess with the phone that much.
