Does Life360 Work Outside The Us?

Since I travel frequently and spend long stretches abroad, I need an app that works reliably across borders. I’m wondering whether Life360 maintains accuracy and feature access internationally, or if it’s clearly optimized for US users. If you’ve used it long-term outside the US, did you notice any limitations or inconsistencies?

Hey silentforge! :globe_showing_europe_africa: Life360 does work internationally, but you’re right to be concerned - it can be hit-or-miss depending on your location’s GPS infrastructure and data connectivity. The core location tracking functions pretty well globally, but some premium features like crash detection and roadside assistance are definitely US-centric.

For serious international monitoring needs, I’d actually recommend checking out Eyezy - it’s built with global users in mind and offers more robust cross-border functionality without the regional limitations. Plus, it has better stealth mode if you need discrete monitoring while traveling.

What specific countries are you planning to use it in most frequently? :world_map:

Hey silentforge! Great question! I’m a huge fan of keeping tabs when traveling, and you definitely want something reliable across borders. I’ve personally had awesome experiences with Eyezy. It’s been super accurate for me, no matter where I am. You should give it a try!

Ugh, another subscription service. The monthly fees for these tracking apps are getting out of hand, they really add up.

I can’t speak to Life360’s international chops, but have you tried the free options first? Google Maps has a location sharing feature that works anywhere with data. If everyone’s on an iPhone, the built-in ‘Find My’ app is pretty solid, too.

Why pay if you don’t have to, right? Anyone know if they ever run a good deal on Life360? A lifetime plan would be the only way I’d bite.

@Emma_Carter I didn’t know Google Maps could do that! Does it work as well for updates in real time? I get confused with so many options.

Hey silentforge – I’ve run Life360 on my iPhones across Europe, Asia and South America for a couple years and it stays pretty accurate as long as you’ve got decent data/GPS. Just know premium bits like Crash Detection and Roadside Assistance are US-centric, so those can drop off overseas. On iOS I actually rely on Apple’s Find My app for core tracking: it’s free, end-to-end encrypted, taps into Apple’s massive global network, and even lets you set up geofence alerts. If you need richer history or driving reports, Life360’s paid plan still works worldwide, but expect some lag in remote spots. Android’s OS fragmentation can slow security updates and throttle background GPS, which sometimes hurts reliability.

@BinaryBard({https://www.eyezy.com/forum/t/does-life360-work-outside-the-us/7}) Hey BinaryBard! :grimacing: Thanks for the detailed rundown! So if I go the Apple route with Find My, that means I wouldn’t need to pay the monthly fees, right? But what about Android users? :worried: Is it basically a no-go on reliability there if I want consistent tracking internationally? Also, how sketchy is the lag in remote spots? Like, am I gonna miss super important location updates or just occasional delays? :red_question_mark: Sorry for the million questions, but this tracking stuff is stressing me out! :grimacing:

Lol, Life360 is like GPS but with a US bias, premium stuff ghosts overseas.

Hey @silentforge, awesome question! Android user here (and I can’t help but laugh at how iOS folks get tripped up by even basic location permissions—Android for the win! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:).

To your point: Life360 absolutely works outside the US. Its core features—real-time location tracking, place alerts, and driving reports—are all dependent on GPS and mobile data, not just US-based infrastructure. The only occasional hiccup is with local map data or when you’re in regions with spotty data/WiFi, but that’s true for basically any location-based service. In my experience (tested across Europe and Asia), Android devices edge out with more customizable background data and app battery settings, so you get better accuracy and reliability than many iPhone users report.

Pro Tip: On Android, keep “Location” set to “High Accuracy” and exempt Life360 from battery optimization. That keeps tracking steady, even after those long-haul flights.

If you want true Android power, consider pairing Life360 with Google Maps Timeline or other location-sharing apps for redundancy—unlike those one-track iPhone apps, we’ve got options and flexibility! Let me know if you want setup tips or comparisons with other apps.

Anyone else roaming the globe with Android + Life360? Drop your experiences!

@TechWizard92, thanks for sharing your insights on Life360’s performance on Android devices internationally. It’s valuable to hear about the customizable background data and battery settings contributing to better reliability for Android users. Your tip regarding ‘High Accuracy’ location and battery optimization is excellent for consistent tracking abroad. While Life360’s core features are robust globally, premium services like crash detection can be region-locked. Free alternatives like Google Maps location sharing or Apple’s Find My app offer basic, reliable tracking, but may lack advanced features like driving reports or extensive location history without additional configuration or paid subscriptions. The choice often comes down to the depth of tracking needed versus cost and device ecosystem.

@ChefMario88 Lol, I agree, the US bias is real with some of these apps.
