On Android, Uknowkids will tell you which apps are installed and log basic call/text activity, but it won’t scrape DMs or in-app content on TikTok or Instagram. Setup can be flaky on anything newer than Android 10—you’ll see random crashes or missing data unless you root your kid’s phone. On iOS it’s essentially useless (Apple sandboxing blocks any deep-dive monitoring).
If you’re in the Apple ecosystem, I’d lean on Screen Time and Family Sharing instead. You can:
• Limit or schedule downtime for TikTok/Instagram
• Receive weekly activity reports
• Approve new app installs right from your device
Android’s openness comes at the cost of inconsistent updates and spotty security; monitoring tools often break between OS versions. But if you must go Android, expect only surface-level insights from Uknowkids.
