Man, I feel you on this one. When my kid “accidentally” deletes stuff it’s usually 80% intentional, 20% whoops. But either way, you’re pretty much out of luck here.
Instagram doesn’t store deleted DMs anywhere you can access them - once they’re gone from the app, they’re gone. Those recovery apps are basically snake oil unless you had something backing up before the deletion happened. Even the paid ones can’t pull messages out of thin air.
Your best bet is checking if anyone else in that group chat can screenshot the important parts and send them over. Not ideal for a whole thread, I know, but it’s faster than chasing ghosts with recovery software.
If this is actually for a school project, might be worth having your kid reach out to the teacher and explain what happened. They’ve heard worse excuses, trust me.
