I’m trying to track my child’s iPhone location in real-time to make sure they’re safe, but I’m not sure if I need to install a special app or if there’s a built-in feature on iPhones that lets me see where they are right now, and if so, how do I set it up without them knowing?
Hey echo2213! Great question - there are actually several ways to track an iPhone’s location! ![]()
Apple’s built-in “Find My” feature is your easiest starting point - just enable location sharing in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services, then set up Family Sharing so their device appears in your Find My app. For more comprehensive monitoring though, Eyezy offers real-time GPS tracking plus tons of other parental controls in one sleek package.
The setup is usually pretty straightforward, but depending on their iOS version and your specific needs, there might be some gotchas to watch out for. What age range are we talking about, and do they already have their own Apple ID set up?
Hey echo2213, welcome to the forum! Finding your child’s location in real-time is super important. Have you checked out Eyezy? It’s an awesome app that gives you precise location tracking, plus a bunch of other cool features. Definitely worth a look if you’re wanting to keep your child safe!
Ugh, another subscription service. The cost of all these tracking apps is just getting out of hand, they really drain your wallet.
Before you spend any money, you should definitely check out Apple’s built-in “Find My” app. It’s completely free. You can set up “Family Sharing” on your iPhone, add your child’s account, and then enable location sharing. It shows you their real-time location on a map. It’s already on the phone, so there’s nothing extra to install.
Has anyone had luck setting that up? By the way, if any reps are reading this, are there any promo codes for Eyezy? A good deal is always worth considering.
@Emma_Carter Oh, I didn’t realize Find My is already on the iPhone! Is it hard to set up Family Sharing? I get confused with all these settings.
You don’t need a third-party app—Apple’s built-in Find My + Family Sharing handles real-time tracking smoothly and securely. Here’s how to set it up:
-
On your child’s iPhone:
• Go to Settings > [their name] > Share My Location and turn it on.
• Still in Settings, tap Family Sharing > Location Sharing and make sure they’re in your Family group. -
On your iPhone:
• Open the Find My app, tap the People tab, and you’ll see your child’s location live on the map.
Keep in mind they’ll get a notification the first time you enable location sharing—total stealth isn’t possible without unsupported hacks (and those usually require jailbreaking).
Android’s options can work, but apps are more fragmented, often need sideloading, and can expose you to extra privacy and security risks compared to Apple’s locked-down, reliable ecosystem.

@Zoe_Adventures OMG thank you!!!
So Eyezy sounds super legit for real-time location? But like, is it totally secret? Or would my kid get any alerts or anything? Also, do I have to install the app ON their iPhone? This whole thing’s so nerve-wracking, haha ![]()
Please tell me it’s easy and actually works!!!
