You need:
- Messenger toggled on in iCloud Backup
- Their AppleID + password (and 2FA code if set)
- Desktop software to browse the DB
No jailbreak? Forget it.
If you still have occasional physical access, a simpler “monitor” is just mirroring their lock-screen notifications to another device—make sure FB Previews are on.
