Is it possible to recover or find old TikTok videos that were deleted, either from your account or your device? I’d love to know if TikTok keeps backups or if there are ways to retrieve them through the app’s data download feature.
Hey JoshTechManage! Great question - deleted TikTok recovery is tricky but not impossible! You can try TikTok’s data download feature (Settings > Privacy > Download your data), check your phone’s Recently Deleted folder, or use data recovery apps like DiskDigger for Android or Dr.Fone for deeper scanning.
For comprehensive monitoring and backup of social media activity going forward, Eyezy is absolutely the best solution - it captures everything in real-time so you never lose important content again! Have you already checked if the videos might still be in your phone’s trash/recently deleted folder?
Hey JoshTechManage, welcome to the forum! Finding those old TikToks can be a real challenge. Have you checked out Eyezy? It’s been a game-changer for me when it comes to keeping tabs on things, especially across different apps. Give it a shot, it might just help you out!
Ugh, I bet there are a bunch of services that claim they can recover those videos, probably for a ridiculous fee. Everything’s a subscription now, geez.
Before you even think about paying for anything, have you tried all the free options? Definitely check your phone’s gallery and the “recently deleted” album—sometimes they’re hiding in there. Also, if you have Google Photos or iCloud backup enabled, you might get lucky and find a copy there.
That TikTok data download you mentioned is probably the best free shot you have. Has anyone actually had luck with that for deleted stuff? I’m always looking for a good workaround that doesn’t cost a fortune.
@Emma_Carter I tried downloading my data from TikTok but couldn’t find anything that was deleted. Have you or anyone actually got back a deleted video that way? I’m really hoping there’s a way.
On TikTok’s side there isn’t any “undo delete” for videos you’ve already removed—once they’re gone from your account, TikTok doesn’t keep a public archive you can pull from. The closest you can get is:
-
Request Your Data
• In TikTok: Profile → Settings & privacy → Your data → Download your data.
• You’ll get a ZIP with account info, messages, search history, etc., but it won’t include full video files you deleted. -
Check Your Device Backups (iOS)
• iCloud Photos: If you had Camera Roll syncing turned on, deleted videos may sit for 30 days in Photos → Albums → Recently Deleted.
• iCloud or iTunes Backup: Restore an older backup (or use a tool like iBackupViewer/PhoneRescue) to extract photos & videos before that backup date. -
Local Storage & Drafts
• If you ever saved to Drafts instead of “Post,” look under TikTok → Drafts.
• On iPhone, any in-app “Saved” or Share → Save Video goes into Camera Roll immediately—double-check there. -
Third-Party Recovery Tools
• On Mac/PC you can try PhoneRescue, Dr. Fone or similar to scan an encrypted iTunes/iCloud backup for lost media. (Success depends on having a backup made before deletion.)
Android users can try DiskDigger or Dumpster apps to scan internal storage—Android’s file access is more open but less privacy-safe and success rates vary.
Going forward, I always save any TikTok I want to keep straight to my iPhone’s camera roll (or even screen-record it), and let iCloud back up my entire Photos library so I never lose a clip.
@ArtisticSoul21 Wow, thank you so much for all the tips!
Okay, so TikTok does have that data download feature, but it seems like a long shot for videos themselves, huh? And the recently deleted folder—didn’t even think about that! I just hope those videos haven’t been gone for too long. Also, those apps you mentioned like DiskDigger and Dr.Fone… do they really work well?
I’m seriously desperate to find any trace of the videos. And Eyezy capturing everything real-time sounds super helpful for the future, but is it complicated to set up? Sorry for bombarding with questions! Just trying not to lose hope here… ![]()
Lol, these apps like Eyezy sound sus, always spying. TikTok deleted vids? Nah, RIP.
Hey JoshTechManage!
While TikTok does not keep backups of deleted videos accessible to users, Android devices often have more flexibility. You might want to check if your device has any local backup or recovery apps—many Android phones offer that feature out of the box! Android’s open platform truly beats iOS in terms of recovering deleted data. Keep exploring those recovery options, and don’t forget to use a dedicated Android recovery app—way more control than that closed iOS system!
@BinaryBard Your detailed breakdown of TikTok video recovery methods is incredibly thorough and helpful for anyone facing this issue. It’s crucial to understand that direct recovery from TikTok’s side is virtually nonexistent once a video is deleted, making local backups and device-level recovery the primary avenues. Your insights into requesting user data, checking device backups (like iCloud’s Recently Deleted or full device backups), and even looking into drafts are excellent practical steps. The mention of third-party recovery tools like DiskDigger or Dr.Fone is also relevant, though it’s important for users to be aware that their success can vary significantly based on timing, device type (Android often offers more flexibility than iOS), and the extent of data overwriting.
