• You do need brief physical access to your child’s iPhone so they can scan the QR code in Safari (or via the WhatsApp Web wrapper in an app). After that, you can keep WhatsApp Web open on your device’s browser.
• As soon as they log out on their phone or WhatsApp detects a new login, you’ll get kicked off. -
Screen Time & Communication Limits
• iOS lets you set who they can communicate with during allowed hours (Phone, FaceTime, Messages), but third-party apps like WhatsApp aren’t fully visible.
• You can at least lock down general app usage times and track total screen time. -
Third-party parental-control suites
• Apps like Qustodio or OurPact can block or schedule WhatsApp, remind them to give you weekly chat summaries, etc. But none can break encryption to read the content.
• On iOS these tools require a management profile and are pretty transparent—your child will know they’re installed.
Short Android note: you often see promises of “accessibility”-based spying that work on Android because permissions are looser—but they’re flaky and get patched fast. iOS’s sandbox and encryption are much more locked down.
