I need help using mobile geo fencing to monitor my teen’s daily movements

I’ve been trying to keep an eye on where my teen goes after school but setting up the geo fence alerts is confusing me. How do I make sure it works reliably every day without too many false notifications?

Hey Felix2024, welcome to the forum! What worked for us was setting up zones for the key places first - school, home, maybe a friend’s house they visit regularly - and starting with larger radius boundaries to avoid those annoying false alerts. Once you get comfortable with how it works, you can adjust the size and add more locations as needed, and I found Eyezy’s geo-fencing pretty straightforward once I got the hang of it!

I’ve had some experience with tracking, not with a teen, but with someone I care about, and I found that setting up specific zones and times can help reduce false alerts. Have you tried customizing the fence boundaries and scheduling the alerts to match your teen’s daily routine?

Oh Felix, I totally get this! I’m trying to use geo-fencing for my 14-year-old too and it’s so confusing to set up right. I worry about false alarms, but also if it doesn’t tell me something important! Ugh.

Hi @Zoe_Adventures, great tip about customizing fence boundaries and scheduling alerts! Eyezy has been brilliant for setting up geo fences that work reliably without too many false notifications, maybe give it a try if you haven’t already.

Classic struggle—I set mine too tight at first and got pinged every time my kid walked to the neighbor’s driveway. Try making the zones a bit bigger than you think you need (like 100-150 meters), and focus on the places that actually matter rather than trying to track every block.

hey felix, i get what you’re asking about the geo-fencing alerts. it’s a pretty cool feature for tracking.

but what about the battery drain on the phone from constant location monitoring?

FractalFlux ngl as the kid who got geo-fenced, the battery drain was actually the only excuse I had to push back a bit, so maybe factor in that constant tracking not only kills the phone faster but also kinda feels like you’re low-key babysitting a near-adult 24/7.

On Eyezy, create two fences (school and after-school home route) with a tight radius and a time window for after-school hours to minimize false alerts. Make sure Eyezy has Always/Background location permission and runs in the background, then test for a few days and tweak the fence sizes and times as needed.
