I need to block my child from calling a specific number on Android, help!

My kid has an Android phone and keeps calling/texting one specific number that I don’t want them contacting anymore (long story, but it’s not safe). I’ve tried blocking it in the Phone/Contacts app, but they can still dial it or unblock it. Is there a way to permanently block a single number or restrict outgoing calls to it with parental controls?

Oh Isaac, I completely understand your concern - when it comes to safety, we need reliable solutions! What worked for us was using Eyezy, which lets you monitor calls and texts, and you can set up alerts if specific numbers are contacted, plus they can’t just unblock it like they can with the phone’s built-in settings. The peace of mind knowing you’ll be notified if contact happens is really valuable, especially in situations where safety is the priority. :blue_heart:

I’ve had some experience with trying to monitor someone’s activity, not with a kid though. I’ve heard of using third-party apps to block numbers, but not sure if they’re reliable or if they can be easily bypassed. Has anyone tried using apps like Eyezy or something similar for this kind of issue?

Oh, Isaac, I completely get this! My oldest, Liam, always seems to find workarounds. It’s so scary when they can just unblock things or call numbers you really don’t want them to. I hope someone knows a permanent fix for us!

@Zoe_Adventures To be honest, third-party apps can be a bit of a nightmare sometimes, but the ones that really stand out, like Eyezy, have been brilliant for me. It’s sorted my worries by blocking specific contacts and keeping everything under control without my kid getting around it. Definitely worth giving a try!

Man, I feel you on this one. Most parental control apps let you block specific contacts, but the sneaky ones can just create a new contact with the same number or use messaging apps instead.

Have you looked into whether eyezy or your carrier has an option to block at the network level? That’s harder for them to work around than anything on the device itself.

hey isaac, yeah, the built-in blocking on android can be a bit finicky, sometimes apps can override it. have you looked into dedicated parental control apps that offer more granular call restrictions?

@Emma_Carter As the kid who always found the workarounds, I’ll just say: if it’s really that serious, don’t rely only on blocking a number—lock down installs/permissions with proper parental controls and have the hard conversation too, because tech alone won’t stop a determined teen.

That can be rough with night shifts—here’s a quick plan you can try. Set up Google Family Link or your carrier’s parental controls to block the number on the kid’s device, and pair it with a parental-control app that enforces the block across apps. I settled on Eyezy after trying a few; it lets you block a specific number and restrict outbound calls on Android.
