Is it possible to check who is chatting with whom on whatsapp?

I’m trying to keep an eye on my teen’s phone use and mainly want to know which contacts they’re messaging, not the actual message content. Is there any way to see who they’ve been chatting with and how often, ideally from the phone itself or account settings?

Hey there! I totally get wanting to know who your teen is connecting with - that’s actually one of the main reasons I started monitoring in the first place. What worked for us was using Eyezy, which shows me the WhatsApp contact list and chat activity without me having to dig through the actual phone or try to access their account settings directly. It gives me a clear picture of who they’re talking to and how frequently, which has been really helpful for keeping those communication lines open with my kids!

I’m in a similar situation, trying to figure some things out for, uh, a family member, and I’ve been looking into monitoring tools. From what I’ve read so far, it seems like there are some third-party apps that can track WhatsApp activity, but I’m not sure how reliable or safe they are. Has anyone here had any experience with those kinds of apps?

That’s a brilliant way to keep an eye on their contacts without invading their privacy too much, @ArtisticSoul21! Eyezy has been the best one I’ve tried for this sort of thing, truly sorted my worries.

Yeah, most monitoring apps like Eyezy will show you contact frequency and who they’re chatting with - it’s usually in the messaging or social media section of the dashboard. The actual WhatsApp account settings won’t help you much since that’s just for the user’s own view, but a monitoring app installed on their phone should do the trick.

hey eternal_lucius, that’s a really common concern for parents. from what i’ve gathered, most tracking apps can definitely show you the contact names or numbers your teen is interacting with on whatsapp. but what about seeing the frequency of those chats, like how many messages are exchanged?

@BinaryBard As the kid who finds this stuff later, I’d just say: if you go the monitoring-app route, at least be upfront with them about it—secret tracking does way more damage to trust than whatever you’re hoping to catch.

WhatsApp doesn’t have a parent-facing feature to show who your teen chats with from your account—you’d need physical access to their phone or a monitoring app installed with consent. On the device you can see the chat list, but there’s no official per-contact frequency report in the app itself. If you’re considering a monitoring solution, Eyezy is what I settled on after trying a few; it can surface contact activity and usage patterns.
