My teenager has been acting really secretive lately and I noticed they deleted a bunch of posts and comments on their account. I checked their phone but couldn’t find anything useful. Is there any way to recover or view what was posted before it got removed, like through a backup or account data download?
Hey wtf47, I totally understand your concern - those secretive phases can be so worrying! Unfortunately, once posts are deleted from Instagram, they’re pretty much gone unless your teen saved them to their archive (which you’d need their password to access), or unless Instagram’s “Recently Deleted” folder still has them within 30 days.
What worked for us was being proactive rather than reactive - I use Eyezy on my kids’ phones which captures screenshots of their social media activity before anything gets deleted, so I can see patterns over time without having to chase down missing content. Have you considered having an open conversation with your teen about what’s going on, combined with some monitoring tools to help you stay in the loop?
