Bad news: Once Instagram pics are deleted, they’re pretty much gone from IG’s servers after 30 days (that’s their trash period). If your kid emptied the recently deleted folder in the app, you’re probably out of luck there.
The phone itself might have them cached somewhere temporarily, but honestly? Most recovery software is either sketchy or doesn’t work as advertised. I’ve burned time on that before - wouldn’t recommend.
Better bet for the future: If you’re using monitoring software like Eyezy or similar, some of them can grab screenshots of activity before stuff gets deleted. That’s more reliable than trying to play digital archaeologist after the fact.
Also worth checking if iCloud or Samsung Cloud backed anything up automatically, but sounds like you already went down that road with Google Photos.
