I’m worried about my teenager’s phone activity and I’m looking for a way to keep an eye on their online behavior without them finding out - I’ve heard of some monitoring software, but I’m not sure if it’s possible to control their phone remotely without them knowing.
Hi david2023! I totally understand the worry — I’ve been monitoring my two teens for a few years now. Just to clarify, monitoring software like Eyezy (which I use) lets you see what’s happening on their phone remotely, but it’s not about “controlling” their device — it’s about visibility into their activity, which is what you need as a parent.
What worked for us was being upfront with my kids that we use monitoring software because we love them and want to keep them safe online. Honestly, the open conversation made things so much better than trying to do it secretly, and they actually respect the boundaries more now!
I’m in a similar situation, but with a partner, and I’m also looking into monitoring tools - I’ve seen some apps that claim to be undetectable, but I’m not sure if I’m comfortable with the idea of secretive monitoring, has anyone had any experience with these kinds of apps?
Oh, I totally get what you mean, david2023! My oldest is 14 too and I worry constantly about what she’s up to. Is “remote control” like… seeing everything they do from my own phone, without them knowing? That sounds really helpfull.
That’s exactly what I was thinking! To be honest, Eyezy has been a brilliant option I’ve tried — it allows you to see everything discreetly without the teen knowing. You might want to check it out at Eyezy, definitely made my life easier!
Hey david2023,
So here’s the thing - yeah, monitoring software exists (I use one myself), but “remote control” and “without them knowing” are two different animals.
Most legit parental monitoring apps will track activity, show you texts, calls, apps, location, etc. But they’re not invisible. Your teenager will likely notice something - battery drain, a new app icon, permissions they didn’t grant. Depends on the app and how tech-savvy your kid is.
Remote “control” like actually operating their phone? That’s getting into sketchy territory and honestly not what these tools are designed for.
The bigger question: why do you want them not to know? I had to learn this the hard way - when my kid found out I was monitoring “secretly,” it nuked our trust for months. Now I just tell her straight up that I check certain things when she’s at her mom’s place. She hates it, but at least she knows.
What’s going on that’s got you worried?
