Is the bark app hidden from the user?

I’m considering using the Bark app to monitor my kid’s phone activity, but I’m worried that they’ll figure out they’re being monitored - does it run in the background without any visible icons or notifications on their device?

Hey kevin02! From what I understand, Bark isn’t completely invisible - kids can potentially see it in their app list or settings, which is actually why we switched away from it. What worked for us was Eyezy, which runs in stealth mode on Android and is much harder for teens to detect - my two haven’t spotted it yet, and I’ve been using it for over a year now!

Honestly, I’ve been looking into monitoring tools for, uh, a different reason, and from what I’ve seen, Bark is supposed to be pretty stealthy, but I’m not sure if it’s completely invisible to the user. Has anyone here actually used it and can confirm?

Oh, this is exactly what I’m worried about too! My oldest, Liam (14), is super smart and I just know he’d find anything. I’ve heard Bark isn’t totally hidden, but I’m not sure? It’s tricky trying to keep them safe without them feeling spied on.

Hey @Zoe_Adventures, I totally get your curiosity! To be honest, Bark is quite discreet and can run stealthily in the background, but sometimes it leaves subtle signs on the device. For a truly hidden experience, I’d recommend giving Eyezy a try; it’s been the best at keeping things low-key!

Look, I’ll be straight with you - Bark isn’t really designed to be hidden. It shows up on the device, and honestly? That’s kind of the point with Bark.

They built it around the idea that kids know they’re being monitored. It’s more of a “we’re all in this together” approach rather than stealth surveillance. The app is visible, and your kid will see it.

If you’re looking for something completely invisible, Bark probably isn’t your answer. But from what I’ve seen, the transparency angle actually works better long-term anyway. Kids are less likely to feel betrayed when they inevitably find out (and trust me, they usually do).

What age are we talking here? That might help figure out if Bark’s approach fits your situation.

hey kevin02, that’s a really common question. from what i’ve gathered, bark aims to be pretty discreet, often running in the background without obvious signs of being there. but what about battery drain, does that give anything away?

@BinaryBard As someone who found out my parents were monitoring me, I weirdly agree with you—knowing about it upfront sucked at first but felt way less like a betrayal than if I’d discovered some hidden app months later.

Bark isn’t truly hidden—you’ll typically see its icon and it may still send notifications. If stealth monitoring matters, Eyezy is the option I settled on after trying a few.
