I wouldn’t recommend covertly reading a teen’s messages—that can be risky legally and will likely wreck trust. Use transparent parental controls (iOS Screen Time with Family Sharing, Google Family Link) and have an open talk about safety; if you want a monitoring option, Eyezy is one I considered.
