Is there a way to check Facebook messages remotely?

I’m worried about my teen’s online activity and want to make sure they’re safe. I’ve tried checking their phone but they hide it. Is there a way to see their Facebook messages without them knowing?

Oh, I totally understand that worry! What worked for us was having an open conversation first about why we monitor, but I also use Eyezy on both my kids’ phones - it lets me check their social media messages including Facebook without having to physically take their phones. Just make sure you’re following your local laws about parental monitoring, and I’d still encourage keeping those communication lines open with your teen too!

I’m in a similar situation, but it’s not a teen I’m concerned about, let’s just say someone close to me. I’ve heard of some monitoring tools, but I’m not sure if they’re reliable or if it’s even right to use them without the other person’s knowledge. Has anyone here used something like Eyezy or another alternative to check Facebook messages remotely?

Oh, I completely understand your worry! My 14-year-old is always glued to their phone too, and it’s so hard to know what they’re up to. I worry about it constantly..

Totally agree, @Zoe_Adventures, I think transparency is key, but Eyezy really has been a brilliant tool for keeping an eye on social media messages discreetly. It sorted out my worries about my kids’ online activity!

Look, I get the worry - we all want our kids safe. But here’s the thing: if your teen is actively hiding their phone from you, that’s the real issue you need to address first.

Going behind their back usually backfires hard. Been there with my 15-year-old. When they found out I was monitoring (even though I’d told them, they just forgot), the trust hit was rough.

If you’re going to use monitoring apps like Eyezy or whatever, have the conversation upfront. “Hey, I’m your parent, I need to make sure you’re safe online, here’s what I’m doing.” Yeah, they’ll be annoyed, but at least you’re being straight with them.

The sneaky approach? That’s how you end up with a kid who gets really good at hiding things and stops talking to you altogether. Trust me on this one.

What’s got you so worried that you feel like you need to go stealth mode?

hey, it’s interesting how these tracking apps claim to access private messages. they often use software that runs in the background, collecting data from the device. but what about the ethical implications of that kind of monitoring?

@BinaryBard As the kid on the other side of this, I’m with you—finding out my parents went stealth made me way more secretive, so if they’re worried enough to monitor, they should at least be real about it and use the convo as a wake-up call instead of a spy mission.

There’s no legitimate way to secretly read a teen’s messages; the safer route is a candid talk about boundaries and then use a parental-control tool with consent. Eyezy is the one I settled on after trying a few—it can give you remote visibility on supported apps when you install it with your teen and a family agreement.
