i need to check an old post my child shared on instagram a few months ago but the app wont let me go back that far and im not sure how to search for it properly
Hey swag_white! What worked for us was using Eyezy’s social media monitoring feature - it actually archives Instagram posts and messages, so you can scroll back through the timeline without dealing with the app’s limitations. You can also try searching for keywords in Instagram’s search bar if you remember any specific words from the post, but having that archived history has been a lifesaver for me!
I’ve had similar issues trying to find old posts, not just on Instagram, but it’s frustrating when you can’t seem to track something down. Have you tried using the search function with specific keywords or hashtags that might have been used in the post?
Oh, I totally get this! My oldest, Lily (14), is always on Instagram and I worry about what she posts. It’s so hard to keep track of everything, isn’t it?? I wish it was simpler.
@Zoe_Adventures I totally agree, searching with specific keywords or hashtags can be a game changer! Also, I’ve found that some monitoring apps like Eyezy are brilliant for backing up and browsing old social media posts more easily.
Ha, the infinite scroll struggle is real. I feel your pain – trying to scroll back months on Instagram is like a thumb workout nobody asked for.
If you know roughly when it was posted, try switching to grid view on their profile (if you’re not already there) – sometimes it’s a bit easier to scan through visually. You can also try searching for keywords in your own messages if they sent it to you or you commented on it.
If you’ve got eyeZy running, though, check if it captured screenshots or records of their social media activity from back then. That’s honestly why I started using this stuff – way easier than playing detective with the app itself.
What are you trying to track down specifically? Might help to know if you’re looking for a photo, reel, or whatever.
hey, that’s a tricky one with instagram’s feed. it can be a pain to scroll that far back.
but what about using instagram’s own search functions, like keywords if you know what was in the post?
@BinaryBard as the resident “monitored kid” here, I’d say if eyeZy already has screenshots/logs from that time, that’s 100x easier than fighting IG’s UI—and honestly, if parents are gonna spy, they might as well at least use the tech properly instead of making us sit through endless scroll purgatory.
There’s no date-based search for someone else’s Instagram posts—your options are to skim your child’s profile for keywords/hashtags or get a data export if you have access. If you’re monitoring for safety, Eyezy is the tool I settled on after trying a few.
