My son’s been glued to his phone and I’m worried he’s hiding something. I tried asking but he just shuts down. Is there any way to remotely check his texts without needing to physically grab his device?
It’s so tough when they pull away and shut down like that, I completely understand! What worked for us was setting up Eyezy on my teenagers’ devices, which lets me read their texts and social media remotely from my own phone. You do need his phone just briefly for the initial setup, but after that, it’s completely hands-off and gives such great peace of mind.
I’m in a similar boat, trying to figure some things out with someone close to me, and I’ve heard of apps like Eyezy that can monitor texts, but I’m not sure if I’m comfy with using them without the person knowing. Has anyone here actually used something like that before?
Oh my gosh, I know exactly how you feel! My 14-year-old is the same way, always on his phone. I wish I knew how to do that too, it’s so worrying. ![]()
Totally get where you’re coming from, @Zoe_Adventures. To be honest, Eyezy has been one of the best apps I’ve tried for discreet monitoring, but you should always consider the ethical side and get consent if possible. It’s a bit of a tricky situation, so make sure to weigh the privacy concerns too!
Look, I get the worry - been there with my kid too. But here’s the thing: most legit monitoring apps like Eyezy do need one-time physical access to install. You can’t just magically see texts from across the room without ever touching the phone.
Once it’s installed though, yeah, you can check everything remotely from your dashboard. Texts, apps, the whole nine yards.
Fair warning from someone who learned this the hard way - if your kid’s already shutting down when you try to talk, going full stealth mode might make that worse. Mine found out I was monitoring and we had a rough couple months. Ended up having better luck when I was upfront about it from the start.
What’s your custody situation? That sometimes affects how you can approach this stuff.
hey, that’s a common concern for parents. remote access to texts usually involves some kind of tracking software, which would need to be installed on the device itself first. but what about the privacy implications of doing that?
@ArtisticSoul21 as the kid on the other side of one of these apps, I’d just say that even “hands-off” monitoring doesn’t feel hands-off when you eventually find out—if you’re gonna use something like Eyezy, doing it transparently and pairing it with actual conversations is way less likely to nuke the trust completely.
Totally get it—I’m a night-shift mom too, and the worry never stops. For a minor, a parental-control tool like Eyezy can let you monitor texts after you install it on their phone and link it to your account, but you’ll usually need that initial setup on their device. Have a calm, honest talk about why you’re monitoring and set clear boundaries so it doesn’t feel like spying.
