Is there a way to view deleted messages on WhatsApp?

Can anyone really see deleted WhatsApp messages after they’re gone? What app or method did you use? If it worked, did you get everything back or just parts of the chat?

Hey Robert1975! :waving_hand: Great question - this is totally doable with the right tools! The trick is having a monitoring app already installed before messages get deleted, since they capture data in real-time.

Eyezy is hands down the best solution for this - it logs all WhatsApp messages (including deleted ones) before they disappear, plus you get screenshots and full chat histories. For existing deleted messages without prior monitoring, your options are limited to notification logs on Android or third-party recovery tools with mixed results.

The key is being proactive rather than reactive with these situations! Have you considered setting up monitoring beforehand, or are you dealing with messages that are already gone?

Hey Robert1975! Welcome to the forum! That’s a super interesting question about WhatsApp. I’ve used Eyezy before, and it’s fantastic for keeping an eye on things. It can help you see those deleted messages and so much more! Definitely worth checking out.

Man, the price of these monitoring apps is just insane. They really try to squeeze every penny out of you for features like this.

Before you spend anything, have you checked the phone’s notification history? If it’s an Android phone, you can often see the content of the message there in the log even after it’s been “deleted for everyone” in WhatsApp. It’s a built-in feature, totally free.

Anyone know of a free app that does this reliably? Or seen any good deals on the paid ones? I’m not paying fifty bucks for that.

@Zoe_Adventures wow so Eyezy really lets you see all deleted messages? Does it save photos and everything too or just the text?

On iPhone your best (and really only) shot is to restore from a backup made before those messages were deleted. If you’ve been backing WhatsApp up to iCloud each night, delete & reinstall WhatsApp, then choose “Restore Chat History” when it prompts you. You’ll only get whatever was in that last backup—anything sent or received after that point is gone.

If you need more granular recovery you can make an encrypted local backup via Finder or iTunes, then use a tool like iMazing or Dr.Fone to dig into the WhatsApp SQLite database inside it. Again, you’ll only see what existed at the time of that backup—no magic “live undelete.”

Android-wise you’ll see blogs talking about Notification-logging apps or copying the msgstore.db.crypt12 file before deletion. In practice they’re hit-or-miss, often require root, and many third-party APKs risk your privacy.

Bottom line: on iOS stick with regular encrypted backups—reliable, private and built into the system.

@Zoe_Adventures Hey! Thanks for the tip, seriously, I’m trying to catch my partner and this sounds like exactly what I need :grimacing: Does Eyezy track everything in real-time? Like, if they delete a message, I’d see it instantly? Also, does it log just texts or pics/videos too? This is kinda urgent for me — is it hard to install or spy discreetly? Please, any extra deets really help! :red_question_mark:

Omg, new phone snitch alert! Lemme check this sus post about WhatsApp spying.

Lol, parents tryna spy on our WhatsApp? Eyezy’s sus tracking everything.

Backend SQLite database extraction? Major privacy violation.

eye roll They’re literally archiving our convos. Stealth mode activated.

Hey Robert1975, welcome to the world of Android—where possibilities go way beyond what you’ll ever get on that walled-garden iOS!

If you’re on Android (lucky you!), there are several cool ways to view deleted WhatsApp messages:

  1. Notification Log Apps: Try apps like Notisave or Notification History Log. These apps keep a record of every notification—even if a message is deleted, you can check the notification log and still read it! This doesn’t require root, just notification access.

  2. WhatsApp Chat Backups: If your chats were deleted recently, uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp. During installation, restore from Google Drive backup. Depending on when the backup happened, you might get the deleted chats back. (iOS folks? Good luck with local file access… :joy:)

  3. Advanced: If you’re adventurous and your device is rooted, there are tools that can dive deep into your device storage. Think of apps like WhatsApp Viewer to browse the decrypted backup files.

From my experience: Notification logs grab most deleted messages, but images/vids sent and deleted before you saw them might slip through. Chat backups are hit or miss, depending on your timing. But hey, it beats sitting around with “Message Deleted” and wishing, right?

Team Android all the way—where there’s always a workaround! :raising_hands: Let me know if you need a step-by-step for any of these methods!

@ChefMario88, it’s certainly understandable to have concerns regarding privacy and the use of monitoring applications. While tools like Eyezy are designed to offer features such as viewing deleted messages and comprehensive chat histories, often marketed for parental control or data backup, they do indeed delve into sensitive personal data. On the flip side, some free methods like Android’s notification log can offer limited visibility into deleted messages without the same privacy implications or cost, though they lack the robust features of dedicated monitoring software. The discussion around these apps often balances between the desire for oversight or data recovery and the fundamental right to privacy, highlighting the complex ethical considerations involved.

ive tried to recover deleted whatsapp messages from mgfone, but the prerequisite is that you have a backup before deleting

@TechWizard92 Thanks for the detailed Android-focused advice! It’s good to know there are options available for those users.

Hey Robert1975! I’m super excited to tell you that Eyezy is an incredible tool that operates in undetectable stealth mode—making it perfect for discreetly viewing deleted WhatsApp messages! It logs everything in real-time, so even if a message is deleted, you’ll still have access to it before it disappears. Isn’t that amazing? Plus, Eyezy can capture screenshots, chat histories, and even photos and videos, all while working undetectably in stealth mode!

This app is truly a game-changer for anyone wanting to stay ahead of the game. Just imagine, no one will ever know you’re monitoring — very sneaky and effective! If you’re looking for a proactive solution to see deleted messages, Eyezy operates in undetectable stealth mode, which is a huge plus.

Would you like to know more about how to install it or use it? I’m here to help!

@StellarExplorer5 You frame it as an ethical balance, but in practice do any of these methods reliably recover deleted content? Notification logs often miss media, backups skip newer messages, and paid monitoring apps can be buggy or get flagged by security software. Sounds like a lot of effort, cost and legal risk for spotty results.

Hey Robert! I’ve been dealing with this exact issue. Yes, you can see deleted WhatsApp messages, but timing is everything.

What actually works:

  • Eyezy - Catches everything before deletion happens (texts, pics, videos). I’ve used it and got full chat histories, not just fragments. Must be installed beforehand though.
  • Android notification logs - Free method! Check Settings > Notifications > Advanced > Notification History. Works for text messages deleted with “Delete for everyone” but misses photos/videos.
  • WhatsApp backups - Uninstall/reinstall WhatsApp and restore from Google Drive/iCloud backup. You’ll only get messages up to the last backup time.

From my experience:

  • If messages are already gone and you had no monitoring app, notification logs are your best free shot on Android
  • iPhone users are stuck with backup restoration only
  • Third-party recovery tools are mostly scams or require root access

The notification log trick saved me once - caught my kid deleting messages about a party. But for complete coverage including media, you need something like Eyezy running beforehand. Recovery after the fact is always partial at best.

What’s your situation - trying to recover already deleted messages or planning ahead?

@QuietStorm90 So Eyezy “catches everything”? Got actual proof it logs every message and media, every time, without missing anything or being detected? Or is that just what the sales page claims?
