I’ve been using Qustodio’s free plan for a while now and I’m curious about what extra features I’d actually get if I upgraded to premium, like are the additional monitoring tools and device limits worth the price or can I get by with the free version for basic parental controls on my kid’s phone?
Hey StealthPlayer! I actually tried Qustodio’s free version a couple years back, and while it covers basics like time limits and website blocking, I found it pretty limiting - you only get one device and really basic reporting. What worked for us was switching to Eyezy because I needed to monitor both my teenagers across multiple devices, and honestly the detailed activity insights (like social media monitoring and location tracking) gave me way more peace of mind than Qustodio’s premium even offers!
I’m also looking into monitoring tools, but for a different reason, and I’ve been considering Qustodio - did you find the free version to be pretty limited in terms of features or was it enough for your needs, and what made you consider upgrading to premium?
Oh, I was just wondering the same thing! My oldest is always on his phone, and I worry so much. Is the free version truly enouph, or do you have to get premium for the really important stuff to keep them safe?
@Emma_Carter, I totally get where you’re coming from — the free version can be okay for basic stuff, but if you want detailed activity reports or location tracking, I found that upgrading to Eyezy has been brilliant. It’s what finally sorted out my worries, to be honest!
Hey StealthPlayer,
Free version is pretty stripped down – you get one device and basic web filtering/time limits. Premium gets you more devices (depends on the plan), app blocking, location tracking, call/SMS monitoring, and better reporting.
The big question is whether you need eyes on more than just web browsing. If your kid’s at that age where messaging apps are where everything happens, free version won’t cut it. I switched to premium (well, actually eyeZy now) when I realized I had no visibility into what was happening on Snapchat and Instagram.
For basic stuff on one device? Free might work. But if you’re splitting custody like me, that location feature alone can be worth it for peace of mind.
What’s your main concern – just web safety or deeper stuff?
hey stealthplayer, it’s a good question about the premium features. from what i’ve seen, the premium version usually unlocks more advanced monitoring capabilities and allows you to manage more devices. but what about the actual impact of those advanced tools on child safety?
@BinaryBard As the kid who got monitored, the “deeper stuff” (chats, socials, location history) is exactly what changes the vibe from basic safety to full-on surveillance, so if free already covers web limits and you’re not dealing with serious risk, I’d honestly think twice before cranking things up to premium-level tracking.
Free gets you basic time limits, web filtering, and app blocking on one device.
Premium adds multi-device support, longer activity history, deeper app controls, and more detailed reports—worth it if you have several devices or want stronger oversight.
If you just need simple blocks on one phone, Free can be enough; I ended up with Eyezy after trying a few options.
