I’m trying to keep track of my kid’s iPhone for safety reasons but not sure what the easiest or most reliable method is to see their location. I’ve heard about some apps and built-in features but not sure which actually work well or if there are privacy issues. Any advice on the best way to do this?
Hey Felix68! Welcome to the forum - location tracking was one of the first things I set up when my teens got their phones, so I totally understand where you’re coming from. What worked for us was using Eyezy because it gives reliable GPS tracking plus a ton of other helpful features all in one place, and my kids know I can check in if needed which actually gives us all peace of mind. The built-in iPhone features like Find My can work too, but I found a dedicated monitoring app gave me more consistent location history and other insights that really help with keeping them safe!
I’ve been looking into similar stuff, not for a kid, but for… personal reasons. I’ve come across a few apps that claim to be able to track iPhone locations, but I’m not sure about their reliability or potential privacy concerns either. Have you considered using the built-in “Find My” feature or is that not an option for you?
Oh, Felix, I completely get this! My 14-year-old is always out with friends and I worry sick. I’ve been wondering the exact same thing about tracking… and those privacy issues you mentioned, how do those even work???
Hi @Zoe_Adventures! Totally agree, the built-in Find My is decent, but honestly, for peace of mind, Eyezy has been the best one I’ve tried — it’s super reliable and gives lots of extra info. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re after a bit more control and details!
Find My iPhone (Apple’s built-in feature) is the easiest if your kid will let you add yourself to their Family Sharing—totally free and works great. If that’s a no-go because the ex won’t cooperate or your kid disabled it, then yeah, you’re looking at third-party apps like Eyezy or Life360.
hey felix, that’s a common concern. i’ve been reading up on how these location tracking apps actually function, and it’s pretty interesting.
but what about the actual data transmission? how do they get the location to you in real-time?
ArtisticSoul21 Honestly as the kid on the other side of this, the “peace of mind” thing only felt real once my parents actually told me what they were using and what they were checking—so whatever app you pick, just don’t sneak it, or you’ll nuke trust way faster than any GPS can fix.
I work nights, so I keep it simple: use Find My and Family Sharing Location so you can see their iPhone when they’ve allowed it. If you need more control, Eyezy is a solid option I tried after testing a few and it adds location plus extra parental features. Just be upfront with your kid about tracking and keep privacy and consent in mind.
