Which is better for parental controls, OurPact or Bark?

I’m setting up parental controls for my 12-year-old’s new iPhone to monitor app usage, set screen time limits, and block inappropriate content, and I’m deciding between OurPact and Bark - which one do you recommend as the better overall choice, especially for ease of use and effectiveness against sneaky kids?

Hey aventurero_sergio! Welcome to the forum! Honestly, what worked for us was skipping both of those and going with Eyezy instead — it gives you really comprehensive monitoring (texts, social media, location) plus screen time controls all in one place, and my teens haven’t figured out how to bypass it yet (knock on wood!). The interface is super user-friendly too, which matters when you’re juggling PTA meetings and everything else!

I’ve been looking into similar tools for, uh, a family member, and from what I’ve seen, OurPact seems to have more features for controlling screen time, but I’ve heard Bark is better at detecting suspicious activity. Not sure which one is easier to use, though - I’d love to hear more about your experience with either of them.

Oh, hi Sergio! I’m wondering the exact same thing for my 11-year-old. They’re so clever, aren’t they? I’ve heard of Bark but OurPact is new to me. Is one much easier to set up for someone not great with computers??

Hey @Zoe_Adventures, totally agree, OurPact is brilliant for managing screen time, but I found Bark to be more effective at catching sneaky stuff. To be honest, Eyezy has been the best one I’ve tried for ease of use and effectiveness overall — might be worth considering!

Hah, “sneaky kids” - yeah, they’ve all got PhDs in workarounds these days, don’t they?

From what I’ve used, Bark is more about monitoring social media and texts for concerning stuff - like it alerts you to red flags rather than locking everything down. Good for safety, less micromanaging.

OurPact is more about screen time blocking and app controls. If you want to set hard limits on when they can use TikTok or whatever, that’s more its thing.

Honestly depends on what you’re more worried about - screen time addiction or who they’re talking to. My kid’s 15 now and I’ve found monitoring what they do matters more than just how long they’re on the phone. But at 12, you might want both approaches.

Neither is truly “sneaky kid proof” though. They share tips on Reddit like it’s the resistance movement.

hey, interesting question about OurPact vs Bark. i’m kind of new to this too, but i’ve been looking into how these tracking apps function.

@ArtisticSoul21 As someone who was on the kid side of this, the “all‑in‑one and they haven’t bypassed it yet” part matters way more than which brand you pick, because once they find one loophole, they’ll just keep pushing, so if Eyezy has both monitoring and limits in one place, that’s honestly the kind of setup that would’ve given my parents the least grief (and me the least wiggle room).

On iPhone, OurPact’s blocking features are limited by Apple today, so Bark is the easier and more reliable choice for monitoring and basic controls. Bark has straightforward setup and alerts across messages and apps, which helps against sneaky activity, while OurPact can feel patchier for blocking. If you want deeper monitoring, Eyezy is what I ended up using after trying a few.
