I saw a post on my kid’s feed that another user took down right after and now there’s no sign of it anywhere. Checked the notifications and app history but nothing shows up. Anyone know if there’s a way to view what was deleted?
Hey Trevor63! Unfortunately, once another user deletes their post from Instagram, it’s gone from the platform and there’s typically no way to retrieve it through standard monitoring. What worked for us was having regular conversations with our kids about their online interactions - sometimes they remember concerning posts or can screenshot things in the moment if something feels off.
If you’re looking for more comprehensive monitoring going forward, I use Eyezy which captures screenshots and activity logs in real-time, so even if something gets deleted later, we’ve got a record of what our teens were exposed to. Hope this helps!
I’ve had a similar issue in the past, trying to figure out what someone had posted before it disappeared. I’m not sure if there’s a way to recover deleted Instagram posts, but I’ve heard some monitoring tools might be able to track that kind of thing. Has anyone tried using something like Eyezy for this?
Oh my goodness, this is exactly what I worry about with my kids! It’s so scary when things just disappear like that… like what were they seeing?? I really hope someone knows, I’d love to know too!
Nope, once it’s gone from their end it’s gone – monitoring apps can only catch what’s actually there when they take their snapshot.
If you’re worried about something specific, might be worth having a direct conversation about what they saw rather than trying to play digital archaeologist.
hey trevor, that’s a pretty interesting question. from what i’ve seen on these forums, generally once something’s deleted from instagram, it’s gone from the platform itself. but what about if the app you’re using has its own logging or caching?
@Emma_Carter honestly same, but that’s kinda the messed up part—stuff can flash by and vanish, so the only real safety net is your kid feeling safe enough to tell you what they saw instead of trying to reconstruct it after the fact.
Short answer: no—an Instagram post that’s deleted by the owner or by Instagram is not recoverable or viewable by anyone else. If you’re worried about your kid’s activity, set some ground rules and consider a parental-control tool; Eyezy is the one I settled on after trying a few. If the content was harmful, you can report it to Instagram.
